New York City History on DVD (& VHS)
Thursday October 2, 2003
Last night I had a chance to see the first episode of New York: A Documentary Film. This seven part series was produced by PBS and it chronicles the history of New York City up until 1999. The first disc concerns itself primarily with early history from the 1600s to 1825 -- including Hudson's "discovery" of New York's harbors, the roles that important figures such as Hamilton and Stuyvesant played in New York's past, and New York City in the Revolutiony War and the years after. This film offers an intriguing way to learn about New York City's fascinating history.
