Talking Street

A friend of mine just told me about this new walking tour available from Talking Street. The tour of the Lower East Side is free, and using your cell phone you can listen to information about each of 13 stops along the tour (indicated on a map that you need to print out in advance of your tour). The service is provided via an 800 number, but airtime charges are your own responsibility. It's a fun(& affordable) way to learn about the history of the Lower East Side -- great for solo travelers. There promise to be more tours in the future -- I'll keep you posted.
