What You Need To Know About NYC Post-Sandy

By November 2, 2012

Follow me on:

Subway service is starting to be restored, and while many people and places will be recovering from Sandy's effects for a long time, things are slowly returning to "normal." The Staten Island Ferry is running again, and electricity has been promised to most of Manhattan by Saturday. Despite lots of opposition, the New York City Marathon is still happening on Sunday, November 4th. Here are some of the most helpful resources for keeping up with what's happening around NYC post-Sandy:
  • Transportation Nation - this is the best place I've found to keep up-to-date on what's happening with transportation and transit around NYC
  • Hurricane Sandy Travel Aftermath - assembled by Johnny Jet, this resource is super-helpful for people traveling in and around NYC
  • Post-Sandy Re-openings - covers lots of museums, attractions and cultural institutions from NYC & Co
  • Eater - has great updates on restaurant re-openings, Hurricane Sandy relief efforts by NYC area restaurants, and Hurricane relief fundraisers at NYC restaurants
  • Con Ed - both their website and twitter feed have helpful updates as power is being restored around NYC
