While a boat cruise on the New York Harbor might not be the first thing you think of for your winter weekends in New York City, think again! On Sundays, from January 6 to February 3, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. New York Water Taxi will be leading EcoCruises that offer participants the chance to see harbor seals on the shores of Governors Island, Hoffman and Swinburne Islands, as well as bird-life, including ducks, geese, loons, and sandpipers. The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge and Verrazano Bridge will also be on the tour's itinerary. You'll want to dress warmly and bring your binoculars to get the most from this adventure cruise. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children 3-12, but About.com readers can score a $5 discount on each ticket by calling 212-742-1969 and mentioning code: ABOUTECO.
