The Bottom Line

If a good burger and beer is what you crave, Corner Bistro is the place.

Pros

  • Great burger & fries
  • Cheap beer
  • Very affordable

Cons

  • Long Wait
  • Cash Only
  • Limited Choices

Description

  • Simple West Village bar that serves great burgers & fries.
  • Limited menu has burgers, fries, grilled cheese, chicken sandwiches and BLTs.
  • If you go after work or on a week night, the line can be quite intimidating.
  • You can easily buy a beer at the bar (McSorley's is $2) to drink while you wait in line.
  • Sunday afternoons and other off-peak times can be a little slower, which means less of a wait.

Guide Review - Corner Bistro

If you're looking for a great burger in the West Village, this is one of the best you'll find. Although some complain that they prefer a better bun to hold up against the burger, I have a weakness for the slightly soft hamburger buns that are overwhelmed by the juices of the burger. Their fries ($2) are thin and crispy, which makes them worth the indulgence. I like my burgers rare, and this is definitely a place that obliges you. Service is practically non-existent, though they will refill your beer if they notice it's empty. Beware, if smoking bothers you, you might want to head there at slower times, because it can definitely be a crowded, smokey place -- but for some reason, that just seems to add to the atmosphere.
