It's surprising to find such an affordable gourmet market in this area. I was happy about how reasonable Turquacino's prices were when I first visited and needed to pick up a few final ingredients for dinner. They have fresh produce and a great selection of fresh herbs. Most herbs are around $.99/bunch and I found other produce prices to be reasonable (for New York City).

Although Turquacino's has excellent cheese and baked goods, I have trouble even trying them with Murray's, Rocco's and Zito's so close by. Their fresh pasta is quite good -- ranging from red pepper linguini to garlic and pepper twists and various fresh tortellini.

In the fish and meat departments, you can find lots of delicious options. Although their fish is not of the quality of our next stop, Fish, they have a reliable inventory and if you're looking for something specific that Fish doesn't have, you can probably find it here.

Another highlight at Turquacino's is the hot and cold salad bars. Everything available is always fresh and delicious. Hot items available reflect the strong Greek influences. You can easily pack yourself up a delicious lunch (or dinner) and bring it to nearby Washington Square park, or even the benches at the corner of Bleecker and Carmine.
