Guide Review - Shake Shack: Restaurant Review

Located in Madison Square Park, the Shake Shack is a great choice if you're looking for a delicious, yet affordable meal, especially on a beautiful day. Waiting in line is part of the ritual of having a meal at the Shake Shack -- unless the weather is dismal (and sometimes, even then) there is almost always a line of customers waiting to order their burgers and hot dogs. The line tends to move quickly, but you should be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes and sometimes even longer. Since all the food is freshly made, it takes another 10-15 minutes for most orders to be completed.

The Shack Burger($4.38) features well-seasoned freshly ground beef, served with cheese, lettuce, tomato and shack sauce. Cheese seems like overkill on the fries($2.08), which are crisp and generously salted. Almost better than having fries with your burger is having a Chicago Dog($2.77) "dragged through the garden" with tasty toppings. Vegetarians will enjoy 'Shroom Burgers($4.15): a fried portobello mushroom, topped with onions, cheese and shack sauce.

To quench your thirst, try the freshly made iced tea($1.38) or lemonade($1.85).

Save room for dessert (or skip right to dessert if you prefer) because you don't want to miss out on the frozen custard($2.54+) or concretes($5.77). Concretes feature toppings (try the Shack Attack or Hop Scotch combinations or create your own) blended with frozen custard. Puppies will appreciate the Pooch-ini($2.54) with frozen custard, peanut butter and a dog biscuit.
