Top 10 Bars for Happy Hour in New York City

What better way to end a day of touring New York City than with a drink at one of New York City's bars. It can be tough to separate the best from the rest, so I've gathered here some top picks for New York City happy hours.

1. Blind Tiger Ale House (West Village)

With 26 microbrews on tap, as well as a fine selection of single malt scotch and tequila, this is a fine place for happy hour. The deal: $1 off all draught beer from 12 - 8 p.m Mon - Fri. Monday $3 pints of Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale and from 6 p.m on free hotdogs. "You Cut the Cheese" nights on Wednesdays starting at 5 p.m. featuring free cheese & bread.

2. Barrow Street Ale House (West Village)

Popular with NYU students, but welcoming with pool tables downstairs. From Sunday through Wednesday they offer happy hour import beers for $1.50 a mug. 15 Barrow St. (btw. 7th Ave. & 4th St.), phone: 691-6127.

3. Yodo Restaurant of Japan

As if $2 Japanese beers and $3 sakes and mixed drinks aren't enough appeal, happy hour goers also enjoy free appetizers from 5-8 p.m. 13 E. 47th St. Fl 1 Phone: (212) 751-8775.

4. Boxcar Lounge (East Village)

Buy one, get one free 'til 10 p.m. (8 p.m. on weekends.) This beer & wine only bar serves up a variety of beers and wine cocktails (think bellinis, mimosas, sakatinis, etc.) Drinks are about $4-6 each.

5. Collins Bar (Hell's Kitchen/Theater District)

Monday - Friday 4 - 7 $1 off beer, wine, well drinks. $3 pints of Brooklyn on Tuesday nights. $3 pint of the day from 6 - 9 on Thursdays.

6. Kanvas (Chelsea)

$3 Michelob light pints/ rolling rock bottles; 1/2 price martinis from 4 - 7; complimentary hors d'oeuvres.

7. Ship of Fools (Upper East Side)

Weekdays from 4 - 7 p.m. they offer $2 Miller Pints and $4 frozen margaritas.

8. La Linea (East Village)

From 3 - 9 p.m. daily $2.50 beer/wine; $1 off other drinks. This East Village lounge has couches, a dj, dim glowing lights and can sometimes be a bit smokey. Smaller backroom is easy to "take over" if you're having a gathering and arrive a little early.

9. Mo's Caribbean Bar & Grill (Upper East Side)

Everything at bar 1/2 price from 4 - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. They also have daily specials, including Ladies night on Wednesdays, where frozen margaritas and drafts are just $1 for ladies.

10. Doc Holliday's (East Village)

Happy Hour every day, 5 - 8 p.m. Buy one, get one free. Monday Nights are Ladies Nights. Ladies drink free well liquor and tap beer, 8 - 11 p.m. $5 cover. Tuesday Nights, all the beer you can drink (Bud Lite) 8 - 11 p.m. $7 cover.
