Brooklyn Museums

Brooklyn is easier to get to from Manhattan than you think. Visitors to Brooklyn can enjoy a taste of what it's like to live in New York City, and while there, you can enjoy a visit to the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the New York Transit Museum or even the Brooklyn Children's Museum.

Brooklyn Children's Museum

Geared towards children ages 2 through 10, your kids are sure to enjoy what the Brooklyn Children's Museum has to offer. There are ten separate galleries dedicated to interactive exhibitions that are sure to engage your children.

Brooklyn Historical Society

Museum, library and educational center focused on appreciation and exploration of Brooklyn's history. They also host a "Walks & Talks" series including everything from book signings to pub crawls.

Brooklyn Museum of Art

The second largest art museum in NYC, located on Eastern Parkway near Grand Army Plaza in Central Brooklyn. Close to Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the Wildlife Center.

Lefferts Homestead Historic House Museum

This former farmhouse was relocated to a location near Prospect Park by the City of New York. The farmhouse reflects Dutch-American architecture.

New York Transit Museum

The New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn Heights is housed in an authentic 1936 subway station, decommissioned in 1946. The New York Transit Museum houses the most extensive collection of urban transportation materials in the United States. The New York Transit Museum Gallery & Store at Grand Central Terminal provides additional exhibits in the heart of Manhattan.

Waterfront Museum

This restored barge in Red Hook, Brooklyn offers a permanent exhibit of artifacts and hands-on experiences from knot-tying to viewing the NY harbor.
