To this end, the New York City Opera offers a variety of affordable tickets to a variety of productions. In its home at the New York State Theater, the New York City Opera produces contemporary, unusual and classic operas, with an emphasis on American composers.

Getting Cheap Tickets for the New York City Opera

  • Opera for All: Tickets are just $25 for select "Opera-For-All" performances.
  • New York City Opera Big Deal!: Opera fans 21-39 can join Big Deal! and purchase 2 tickets to select operas for just $30 each. The Big Deal! Basso membership is free. With the $50 Mezzo Membership, you can purchase 2 $30 tickets for any opera up to two weeks before the performance.
  • New York City Opera Student Discounts: Full-time students 29 years and younger can purchase $16 rush tickets on the day of the performance, 1/2 price tickets up to one week before the performance, as well as other discounts and student group programs.
