New York Cooking Classes and Wine Seminars

Want to try your hand at a New York cooking class? There are all sorts of options, including tours inside famous New York restaurants. Check out the schedules for these cooking classes and your next visit to New York City promises to be delicious.
Academy of Cake Art
If learning to decorate cakes is what you're looking for, look no further. Skills taught include making sugar flowers and decorating wedding cakes. Classes are small, from 1 - 6 students, and taught on the Upper West Side.
CamaJe Cooking Classes
CamaJe's cooking classes offer participants an opportunity for hands-on experience in a real, working restaurant kitchen. Topics range from sushi and shopping for fish to Thanksgiving and hors d'oeuvre preparation. Classes are $75 each, or bring a friend for $125. They also offer series classes in kitchen confidence, wine tasting and more. Classes located in Greenwich Village.

Cooking By The Book
TriBeCa cooking school offering private cooking classes and wine tastings for groups of 12 or more. Their offerings are appropriate for both corporate clients looking for "team building" opportunities, as well as for private groups looking to celebrate birthdays, baby showers, etc.
Cooking With Miette
Classes in this Greenwich Village kitchen are taught by Head Chef Paul Vanderwoude or a special guest. Classes range from typical French and Italian to Indian and Thai foods. Most classes are $60 per person and you should BYOB.
De Gustibus Cooking School at Macy’s
Located in Herald Square, classes range from demonstrations by famous chefs (including Mario Batalli and Jean-Francois Bruel) to hands-on knife skills classes. They also offer classes on-location at restaurants including Ilo and Park Avenue Cafe.
Dish : Cooking Classes
Dish offers private cooking classes for groups of 10 - 50, starting at $85 per person in their private downtown locations. Their spaces are also available for rent for other private events.
Home Cooking
Home cooking offers private cooking classes and parties in New Yorkers' home kitchens (a less expensive alternative to pricey cooking school classes) in addition, they can arrange for classes in Greenwich Village and Lower East Side space, but kitchen rental charges are additional. They offer an array of menus from Japanese and health oriented choices to a Thai and Italian feasts.
Institute of Culinary Education
The Institute of Culinary Education is one of the preeminant institutions of culinary excellence in New York City and they offer an array of recreational classes as well. Classes range from basic to ecclectic and they even have walking tours and opportunities at famous restaurant kitchens and with famous chefs.
Josie's Cooking Classes
Josie's restaurant features dairy-free dining at it's best in New York City. The chef who started the restaurant teaches these demonstration based courses. For $45, you can learn quite a bit, take the recipes home with you, and drink and eat to your hearts content. Classes take place on the Upper West Side.
New School Culinary Classes
The New School offers culinary classes and walking tours of various ethnic/shopping oriented areas. These classes are pricier than most($100+ including supplies), and their quality is largely dependent on the particular instructor.
The Wooden Spoon: Inspired Cooking at Home
Learn basic cooking skills in your own home with these private cooking classes. The 2 1/2 hour classes result in a meal prepared for four, as well as leftovers, and classes can accommodate 1-4 students. Students must have their own kitchen equipment and must get the ingredients in advance (lists and assistance are offered). They also offer a "Learn to Cook" series of 6 classes.
