Murals in the GE Building

Although originally hoping to showcase murals by Matisse and Picasso, Diego Rivera was the first artist commissioned to paint the murals in the GE Building. However, the mural he created depicting Lenin was too much for his patrons and was removed. In its place, José Maria Sert was hired to create the murals American Progress and Time now seen in the GE Building.
