Lower East Side: Birthplace of Dreams

The Educational Alliance was an important institution for Lower East Side Jewish immigrants. Founded in 1889, the Educational Alliance offered classes to help immigrants adjust to life in America, particularly by teaching them to speak English. The center continues to serve the Lower East Side today with an array of programs.
