Cherry Blossom Season at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden starts in late March and lasts through late April. Since the season is impacted by the weather, BBG will be announcing the official start of the season when the first cherry blossoms bloom in their gardens!

What is Sakura Matsuri (The Cherry Blossom Festival)?:

Sakura Matsuri is a two-day festival of Japanese culture, arts, and performances for all ages in tribute to the Garden’s iconic collection of Japanese flowering cherry trees. There are over 60 different performances during the two-day festival.

When is the Cherry Blossom Festival at BBG?:

Sakura Matsuri: The Annual Cherry Blossom Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, 2014 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  • All Cherry Blossom Festival events are free with Garden admission
  • Free admission to the BBG on Saturday mornings does not apply during the Cherry Blossom Festival, but does apply during the rest of Cherry Blossom Season

  • This is probably BBG's most popular weekend, so be prepared for crowds
