Thursday, August 2 - 7pm
The Flatlanders

Castle Clinton National Monument, Battery Park
Coming from a small college town in Lubbock, this trio has become one of the most respected bands in Texas and across the nation, bringing audiences its unique take on traditional country music. Tickets will be distributed two- per-person, outside Castle Clinton on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 5pm on the day of the show.

Friday, August 3 - 7pm
A Night of Billie Holiday Remixed and Reimagined

South Street Seaport, Pier 17
Presented by Turntables on the Hudson, this exciting evening will feature star DJs Nickodemus, Jazzy Nice and Nappy G on percussion, Jay Rodriguez, of the world-famous Groove Collective, on saxophone and flute, and much more.

Saturday, August 4, 11, 18, 25 - 1pm
In The Pocket - Music Lands on Governors Island

Governors Island, 10 South Street, Slip 7
LMCC presents a four-weekend concert series featuring sounds from South America, Africa, Asia and Europe, along with some of New York’s own homegrown stars.

Summer Stars - Amstel Quartet, Saxophones

Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University
Over the past ten years, these four Dutch musicians have built an international reputation for original and inventive programming. Their performances around the world have consistently been described as “riveting,” “infectious” and “dynamic.” Tickets required and are available at the box office after 4pm on the day of the show.

Movie Nights on the Elevated Acre: The Fountainhead (114 minutes, 1949)

Elevated Acre at 55 Water Street
King Vidor directs Gary Cooper in this brilliant adaptation of Ayn Rand’s novel about an idealistic young architect confronting the establishment. A conversation with filmmaker Caspar Stracke and a screening of his short No Damage precedes the film.

Movie Nights on the Elevated Acre: Breakfast at Tiffany’s (120 minutes, 1960)

Elevated Acre at 55 Water Street
In Blake Edwards’ adaptation of Truman Capote’s novel, George Peppard stars as a struggling writer, Paul Varjak, and Audrey Hepburn as the iconic, quirky neighbor Holly Golightly. A conversation with filmmaker Jim Jennings and a screening of two of his shorts – Elements & Silk Ties – precede the film.

Wagner Park
Despite being one of the newest salsa ensembles on the Latin scene, all members of 8 y Más are seasoned players who have been making music since they were kids. RAIN LOCATION: Stuyvesant High School Auditorium, Chambers and West Streets.

Movie Nights on the Elevated Acre: On the Waterfront (108 minutes, 1954)

Elevated Acre at 55 Water Street
Elia Kazan’s landmark movie stars Marlon Brando as a washed-up ex-prizefighter working on the docks for the local gang boss. A conversation with filmmaker Jacob Burckhardt, a screening of his short Marten's Bar and a screening of his father Rudy Burckhardt’s Up and Down the Waterfront – precede the film.

LMCC SITELINES: Accounting for Customs by Reggie Wilson with Andreya Ouamba

Steps of the US Custom House / National Museum of the American Indian at Bowling Green
In the African diaspora, remembered and stolen pasts and troubled and hopeful presents are mediated by invention, as explored by Ouamba and Wilson, and danced by the Fist and Heel Performance Group.

The Jimmy Bosch Band

Battery Park City, Wagner Park
One of New York City’s most sought-after trombonists, Bosch has reinvigorated the Latin music scene as the leading exponent of the salsa dura (hard salsa) movement. RAIN LOCATION: Stuyvesant High School Auditorium, Chambers and West Streets.

LMCC SITELINES: States & Resemblances by Dean Moss and Ryotaro Mishima

Elevated Acre at 55 Water Street
Actor/photographer/video artist Mishima, Indonesian traditional dance and Mask artist Restu Imasari Kusumaningrum, and choreographer/director/video artist Dean Moss combine shadow play, text and dance all set in a field of dots.

Movie Nights on The Elevated Acre: The Apartment (120 minutes, 1960)

Elevated Acre at 55 Water Street
Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine star in this comedy about a struggling clerk in a huge New York insurance company. Preceding the feature will be a conversation with filmmaker Lili White and screening of her short NY, a digital montage that’s part home-movie, part city-symphony reflecting what New York stands for: America's cradle of immigration; the site of the 9/11 disaster; the platform of a genuine international city.

Charansalsa

Charansalsa’s swinging sound is a highly danceable new concept in Latin music combining the best of charanga and salsa, but always rooted in tradition. RAIN LOCATION: Stuyvesant High School Auditorium, Chambers and West Streets.

Battles

South Street Seaport, Pier 17
Fusing free-form jazz with mind-bending electronica, this schizophrenic rock band – composed of well-known musicians, including ex-Helmet drummer John Stanier, ex-Don Caballero guitarist Ian Williams, ex-Lynx guitarist Dave Konopka, and Tyondai Braxton (son of avant-garde jazz musician Anthony Braxton), who also plays guitar and keyboard – will take your brain to places it's never been before.
