Upper West Side Museums

The most reknowned museum on the Upper West Side must be the American Museum of Natural History -- which has always been a favorite of mine, but be sure to check out some of the other Upper West Side Museums, including the Children's Museum of Manhattan and New York Historical Society.

American Museum of Natural History

Everything you need to know to plan your visit to the Museum of Natural History. Since opening to the public in 1869, the museum has evolved and grown. In addition to the Rose Center planetarium and regular exhibits, the museum hosts a revolving series of new exhibits, so there is always something new to see.

Children’s Museum of Manhattan

An Upper West Side institution, the Children's Museum of Manhattan attracts locals, school groups and visitors with their interactive, educational activities available at the museum. Whether "working" in a post office or learning about water's many properties hands-on a visit to CMoM is sure to please.

The Cloisters

Located in Fort Tyron Park near 190th Street, the Cloisters is the branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art dedicated to the art and architecture of medieval Europe.

New York Historical Society

On West 77th Street at Central Park West, the New York Historical Society offers visitors an opportunity to see a collection that reveals much of New York's history. The collection includes Tiffany lamps, decorative objects, paintings, and furniture.
