Guide Review - Evviva: Meet & Mingle Wine Tasting Review
The crowd when we arrived at Evviva's Meet & Mingle Wine Tasting was a mixture of couples and small groups (mostly of women), all busy drinking wine and chatting. Staff was quick to greet us and pour us our first glass of wine, a crisp, citrusy Prosecco. The tasting mimics the format used by many producers to introduce industry professionals to their wines -- it's casual, mildly informative, but mostly an opportunity to sample and enjoy the wines being presented. For the wine novice, it offers a unique opportunity to taste several distinct wines, free from the fear of judgement or waste -- if you don't like a particular pour, you can move on and try some of the others. All of the wines offered that evening were southern Italian, and included two reds and two whites in addition to the Prosecco. The two pourers each offered basic information on the wines, and were happy to chat with attendees about the wines being poured. The generous pouring policy makes this event particularly appealing to wine drinkers who'd like the opportunity to sample a variety of wines and leave the event with pleasant buzz, more so than a newfound wisdom of wine.
